2.  Brain Vascular Imaging

Welcome to the Brain Vascular Anatomy tutorial for the Neuroscience course at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine.

This site is set up to allow you to rapidly learn the vascular anatomy of the CNS in three sections. The user can follow links using the next button at the bottom of each content page, or use the lesson index on the left side of the browser screen to jump around.

This site looks and runs best using Netscape Navigator 4.5. You may receive an error message using Internet Explorer 4.0. Also, to take full advantage of the graphical interface a 17 inch monitor is required. Some of the features will not be accessible on a smaller monitor.

The first section reviews the vascular anatomy of the central nervous system using text, diagrams, and pictures of a dissected brain. The clinical relevance of the brain vascular anatomy usually relates to neurologic deficits resulting from occlusion of particular arteries.

The second section reviews the techniques used to image the brain vascular anatomy and provides several examples of these clinical studies.
